Where it comes from
The only acoustic instrument invented in the 20th century
The steel pan was born in Trinidad & Tobago in the 1930s, hammered out of discarded oil drums and tuned by ear. It went from scrap metal to a national instrument in a single generation.
Panjo is built in Toronto, a small studio putting Caribbean sound in front of a much bigger audience.
